Parry Sound is located inside the UNESCO designated Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve, one of only 18 UNESCO Biosphere Reserves of Canada. The Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve is comprised of 200 km of the eastern coast of Georgian Bay, and is within the 30,000 Island archipelago, the world’s largest fresh water archipelago. The archipelago is known for its wilderness feeling, natural wonder, and rich cultural history. Within this biosphere region you will find 170 species of birds, 44 species of mammals and 34 species of reptiles and amphibians.

BOBBY ORR HALL OF FAME

Museum
The Bobby Orr Hall of Fame is an interactive hockey museum with a wide variety of photos, memorabilia and artifacts about Bobby Orr, who was born in Parry Sound. Exhibits include Orr’s NHL rings, a number of his trophies and awards, some of the jerseys he played in, a pictorial history of his career and a number of interactive games and activities related to hockey. The Bobby Orr Hall of Fame also hosts exhibits about other exceptional athletes with ties to Parry Sound.

ISLAND QUEEN CRUISE

Museum
Offering two and three hour cruises through Georgian Bay. The 30,000 Islands of Georgian Bay represent the world’s largest freshwater archipelago. Part of the Canadian Shield, the islands are thought to be the eroded roots of an ancient mountain range called the Grenville Mountains. The uniqueness of the island ecosystem earned the area World Biosphere Reserve status from the United Nations in 2004.

A seasonal restaurant, located near the Georgian Bay harbour facilities, their “on-the-deck” dining experience provides a pleasing view of the Seguin River rapids as well as the nearby port itself.
