About
Muskoka is a scenic area sprinkled with picturesque villages and towns, farming communities, and lakeside vacation hotels and resorts near to golf courses, country clubs, and marinas.

Studded with lakes and rocks, the land offered an abundance of fishing, hunting, and trapping, but was poorly suited to farming. European inhabitants ignored it while settling what they thought were the more promising areas south of the Severn River. What made Muskoka unsuitable for agriculture, made it desirable for tourism as early as 1860.
Muskoka is clustered around three big lakes — Muskoka, Joseph and Rosseau — that are carved into the Canadian Shield and framed by a dense canopy of hemlocks, pines and maples. With a galaxy of private islands and thousands of miles of glacial shoreline, Muskoka is beautiful and secluded.
