The City of Kawartha Lakes is over 3,067 square kilometres of urban and rural areas with over 250 lakes and waterways. The city includes 105km of the Trent- Severn Waterway, Kirkfield Liftlock – the world’s 2nd Highest Lift-Lock, 43 marinas, 111 municipal parks, and the Academy Theatre, which is the 2nd oldest live theatre venue in Ontario.

Globus Theatre is the company-in-residence at the Lakeview Arts Barn (LAB). Globus offers a diverse, professional summer season and an eclectic mix of dramas, murder mysteries and comedy nights at other times throughout the year. Theatre patrons can choose to dine prior to any of the evening performances in the dining room adjacent to the theatre. The LAB, originally a working cattle barn, also has a contemporary Arts space.

ACADEMY THEATRE

The Academy Theatre for Performing Arts, as it is known today, is a cultural centre, presenting concerts and community productions. The Academy Theatre was built in the spring of 1892, and when the theatre doors opened in 1893, it was billed as the most technically perfect theatre in Canada. With seating for 900 people.

Kawartha Settlers’ Village was originally a family farm and is now home to a collection of over 20 historic homes and buildings.
