About

Dufferin County is home to a wide range of outdoor, artistic and cultural attractions. The beautiful Niagara Escarpment forms a dividing ridge through the County. It is easily accessed via the Bruce Trail or the Mono Cliffs Provincial Park. Located across the county is the bio diverse Dufferin County Forest that is 2,596 acres divided into twelve tracts providing spectators with beauty that reaches as far as the eye can see.

Dufferin County is the highest plateau immediately west of Georgian Bay, and it forms a watershed between the four lakes: Huron, Erie, Ontario and Simcoe. Headwaters, a 2,534-square-kilometre area gets its name from being the source of some of Ontario’s biggest rivers. Dufferin County takes in the central and northern most reaches of Headwaters.

A combination of exhibits and permanent collections, including unique artifacts that provide a glimpse of the local history and evolution of its communities. The museum building is beautifully located on a high point at the intersection of two major roads, and incorporates a former stone silo as a tower which affords a beautiful panorama of the surrounding farmlands.

The Inn started out as a small farm in the early 1800’s and in 1853 the building was expanded and a general store opened to provide services to the thriving area. In 1984 Carol and Michael Hall purchased the property and reopened the store. In 1987 “The Mono Centre General Store” changed to “The Mono Cliffs Inn” and since then people have been finding their way to Mono Centre to dine in a relaxed, country atmosphere. Situated in one of the most scenic stretches of the Bruce Trail, next to the Mono Cliffs Provincial Park the Inn has become a mecca for lovers of food and Australian Wines. Inn keeper Carol Hall is always glad to see old friends and welcome new diners to the dining room, pub or beautiful Magnolia Deck.
